About Me

I am an unashamed birth junkie! I absolutely live and breathe all things birthy.

Besides being a full time doula, I am a mother to two daughters as well as a traditional birth attendant

Whilst I am a strong advocate for a natural birth, I also realize that it is when women take ownership of their birth, bodies & babies that the outcome of a positive, rewarding & empowering becomes the most important gift she can give herself. I believe my role as a doula is to reflect those qualities in the support that I offer & for the mother to discover that she had those abilities in her all along....

I previously worked in a primary health care clinic for 9 years with the department of health as an administration clerk & part of my duties included baby weighing & breast feeding support. In 2000 completed the Breastfeeding Association of South Africa’s lactation management course

I qualified as a professional doula in December 2004 after completing the birth companion course with WOMBS and in August 2009 completed their advanced doula course

Along with friend and colleague Ruth Ehrhardt, I co-founded Home Birth SA.               A website dedicated to information and resources on home birth in South Africa. We run quarterly gatherings in Muizenberg and Tableview for anyone wanting to explore the option of homebirth.
